Duff McKagan - Tenderness
Duff McKagan was the guy that was responsible for the punk edge in one of the greatest rock bands of all time - Guns N’ Roses. It wasn’t just his bass playing style and songwriting sensibility but also his gritty voice that he was able to showcase on some “Use Your Illusion” songs, even more prominently on their underrated cover album “The Spaghetti Incident?” and of course on post-Gunners projects such as Loaded. On his 2019 solo album “Tenderness” he showed us a more (ahem) tender side of his musical spectrum. And it works greatly. Produced by Shooter Jennings there is a country feel to the record and with its stripped down approach Duff’s voice has room to shine. In his lyrics he reflects on his tumultuous past and the lessons he learned from it. A beautiful addition to McKagan’s rich musical legacy.
