Iotunn - Access All Worlds
Denmark’s Iotunn created something extraordinary with their debut album “Access All Worlds”. A lot of progressive metal is a little too much brain/too little heart and soul for me, but this one blew me away when I first heard it and it still does over a year after its release. They combine headbangibility (if this wasn’t a word yet, it now is) with complexity, majestic hooks with growls, traditional metal with a modern sound and they translate all of that into captivating songs that get better and better with each listen. An absolute masterpiece that I highly recommend for fans of traditional metal as well as those who prefer the heavier side of the spectrum.
