High Pulp - Pursuit of Ends
Jazz is one of the oldest popular music styles and has such a rich history that it can be daunting for a new band to compete with the classics. High Pulp show that it’s possible on their second album “Pursuit of Ends”. While not classically trained they certainly studied the old heroes in their own way, but with a healthy DIY-attitude they found a way to inject new exhilarating youthful energy into an old style. The first association that comes to mind when listening to this record is pure freedom. They don’t care about any conventions and let their creativity flow resulting in a refreshing album that evokes jazz fusion from decades ago while putting a brand new spin on it.
