Undeath - It's Time... To Rise From The Grave
The guys in Undeath are clearly obsessed with old school death metal. That’s not just made clear by the band shirts they’re wearing on the back cover. Their sophomore album “It’s Time… To Rise From The Grave” is a celebration of the golden age of the genre when it was new, fresh and really scary to some people. You might still be able to scare some unwanted guests away with this one. This album sounds almost like a collage of influences from many different legendary bands of those early days. A little Cannibal Corpse here, a little Carcass there, a little Morbid Angel sprinkled in. You name it. Even though they’re not reinventing the wheel, it’s still fresh sounding, because the riffs are so great and they play with such enthusiasm. The songs are short and intense, never outstaying their welcome. Undeath created one of the highlights of the death metal year so far and I feel like we will be hearing from these guys for a long time to come.
