Kevin The Persian - Southern Dissonance

Kevin The Persian - Southern Dissonance

Kevin The Persian might sing about rock being dead on one of the highlights of his debut album “Southern Dissonance”, but I’m sure he’s not serious about that, since this record is a great counter argument against his own thesis. Hailing from New Orleans, Kevin locked himself up in a tiny room of an industrial building, diminishing contact to the outside world to write and record this album. All instruments are played by him. There are definitely strong 90’s rock vibes, but you can also hear his affinity to metal and southern rock in certain parts. Each song is constructed carefully with enough variety to keep things interesting all the way through without losing cohesion. The vocals are forceful, melodic and catchy and the guitars vary from heavy, groovy riffing to tasteful, beautiful acoustic picking. A very impressive debut.
