Bandaid Brigade - I'm Separate
Don’t judge a book by its cover. Looking at this album and knowing that it’s made by what is essentially a supergroup of punk and hardcore greats Zach Quinn (PEARS), Brian Wahlstrom (Scorpios, Gods of Mount Olympus), Paul Rucker (Armchair Martian, Street Dogs, Drag The River) and Chris Fogal (The Gamits), you’d expect something completely different than this. Bandaid Brigade’s debut and so far sole album “I’m Separate” is them swimming free from any punk restraints and channeling influences from all over music history. Classic rock bordering to yacht rock, synth pop, funk - all there. And much more. And they’re really great at it, packaging all this in memorable songs. There’s a sense of humor to a lot of this, but they never fall in the irony trap. This album is way too good to have been made by people who aren’t genuine about it. Oh, and I have to point out that guitar solo on “Treat Me Like A Christmas Tree”. Heavenly.
