Japandroids - Celebration Rock
It is very fitting that the Japandroids’ second studio album “Celebration Rock” starts and ends with fireworks. As its title suggests, it is truly a celebration of what rock music can do, at the same time stripped-down to rock’s essentials and unashamedly jubilant. “We were in the studio just screaming out as if we were in the audience at our own show”, is how Brian King described their approach. That makes absolute sense. These are anthems made to shout out loud, the whole album an ode to youth, excess, friendship and lust.
