Sepultura - Chaos A.D.
By the time Sepultura unleashed “Chaos A.D.” onto the world, they had already made a name for themselves as a furious force of nature somewhere between thrash and death metal. They had been refining their sound continuously over the years, but it was this one in which they started to truly embrace their Brazilian influences. They dropped the tempo in favor of a more groove-oriented sound without losing any of their heaviness and certainly none of their rage. This is a much more political album than many of its predecessors. Max was pissed. He sang, shouted and screamed about real-life atrocities and made it very clear where he stood. This album made Sepultura an international household name and encouraged metal bands around the world to infuse their music with influences native to their homes.
