PJ Harvey - Rid of Me
PJ Harveyís ďRid Of MeĒ is a blast of fury, an expression of pain and unpolished rage. Only in the 90ís could a rock album this abrasive become as big as it got. It fit the zeitgeist perfectly while further defining it. The loud-quiet-loud dynamics, switching from bluesy emotionality to feverish grunge riffs, make the quiet parts feel even more depressing and the loud parts even more aggressive. Crucial to the musical presentation was Steve Albini, one of the most influential producers of the time, who captured the bandís energy perfectly and made the album sound as if you were sitting right there in the rehearsal room with the band.
