Buddy Holly - A Rock & Roll Collection
February 3rd, 1959 has become known as “the day the music died” as Don McLean put it in his major hit “American Pie” from 1971. Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, “The Big Bopper” J. P. Richardson and their pilot Roger Peterson were killed in a plane crash. “A Rock & Roll Collection” by Buddy Holly, a compilation of some of his best songs. Holly’s impact on rock n’ roll and with that music as a whole is immeasurable. His singing style as well as his unique guitar playing influenced a whole new generation of young musicians, not least some guys in Liverpool who would choose an insect-themed band name before conquering the music world - just like Holly’s band “The Crickets”.
