Ace Of Base - Happy Nation
Growing up in Europe in the 90’s, it was absolutely impossible to escape what many people called Euro-pop. Even if you tried. And nobody was bigger than Ace Of Base. Their debut album “Happy Nation” sold over 25 million units and became a smash even on this side of the Atlantic. “The Sign” topped the cumulative Billboard year-end singles chart in 1994. Not only because they were Swedish they drew comparisons to ABBA. Their songs were extremely catchy, two guys wrote them, two girls sang them. But the sound was updated to meet the trends of the time and it worked as well on the radio as on the dance floor. Nobody does earworms like the Swedes.
