Wolf Alice - Blue Weekend
Wolf Alice had already garnered quite a bit of attention with their first two albums, especially in the UK, but with “Blue Weekend” they went for something bigger. This is an album for festival stages. The main stages. The choruses are made to sing along and get yourself lost in. The lyrics are personal but universally relatable at the same time. Musically, this album fits our times in the sense that it borrows from many different genres. There’s some pop, some rock, some garage, some shoegaze - all held together by tight songwriting and a polished and pristine production, courtesy of Markus Dravs who worked with the likes of Coldplay or Arcade Fire. They already conquered the UK rock world. Let’s see if the US is next.
