LCD Soundsystem - Sound Of Silver
No other band exemplifies the mid-00’s cool as well as LCD Soundsystem, but you don’t get as beloved as they did by just being cool. You have to connect to people on an emotional level. They managed to do that impressively on their dance-rock masterpiece “Sound of Silver”. This is an album that works on the dance floor or a rock club just as well as at home when you really just wanted to have one glass of wine. James Murphy is a master at capturing that feeling somewhere in your 20’s when you’re still holding on to that little hedonism in your life, but it’s starting to dawn on you that this moment won’t last forever and you start feeling nostalgic for a time that hasn’t even fully passed yet. “I wouldn’t trade one stupid decision for another five years of life”, he sings on the anthemic “All My Friends”. That sums it up nicely.
