Chastain - The 7th of Never
It’s Super Bowl weekend. In support of our adopted son Joe Burrow and his Bengals (and because we’re still mad at the Rams), our Record of the Day hails from Cincinnati: Chastain’s “The 7th Of Never”. This is an album from the golden age of glorious, melodic, epic heavy metal. Guitarist David T. Chastain and singer Leather Leone were introduced to each other by none other than Mike Varney, president of Shrapnel Records (which released the first two Chastain albums), so you know there’s some serious shredding on here. But this isn’t aimless noodling. Chastain pulls off the heavy, mighty riffs just as well as the blistering solos and Leather Leone tops everything off with her powerful, raspy yet melodic vocals and choruses bigger than our surprise to see the Bengals play in the big game.
