Record of the Day - 01/27/2022
When Ozzy Osbourne got kicked out of Black Sabbath, not only his career seemed to be over. He lived his life in a haze of booze and drugs. Nothing pointed to him coming back with an album that would become an all-time classic. But that’s exactly what happened with “Blizzard of Ozz” - our Record of the Day. We probably have to thank Sharon for that. She took him under his wing and motivated/forced him to get on his feet and put a band together. We also have to thank Randy Rhoads. Rarely has a guitarist made such an impact in such a short time. His playing was at the cutting edge of its time, a melange of metal, hard rock and classical influences. They created an album that not only launched Ozzy’s solo career but helped transition heavy metal to a new decade.
