Country Westerns [LP]

Vinyl: $22.98 UNAVAILABLE

MP3 Album: $9.99 Download

Vinyl LP pressing. 2020 release, the debut album from Nashville rockers Country Westerns. The first recordings with the complete lineup were made in Nashville with engineer Andrija Tokic, but the band was soon convinced to leave Nashville to record a couple of songs with Country Westerns enthusiast Matt Sweeney. With Sweeney as the band's producer they set out for New York and did their first session at Brooklyn's Strange Weather Studios, with Daniel Schlett. The Strange Weather recordings piqued the interest of indie record label Fat Possum. The band returned to Strange Weather to finish the record and, shortly afterward, signed a deal with Fat Possum Records.

Produced by Jack Splash (Kendrick Lamar, Alicia Keys, John Legend) and Valerie June, the new album The Moon and Stars: Prescriptions for Dreamers achieves a transcendent effect thanks in no small part to the splendor of its sound, an exquisitely composed tapestry of folk, soul, gospel, country, blues, psychedelia, and time-bending symphonic pop. The result is a selection of songs both ornate and elegant, each moment crafted with a profound awareness of what’s most essential in creating enduring beauty. The follow-up to Valerie June’s widely adored The Order of Time—a 2017 effort that earned the admiration of Bob Dylan and landed on best-of-the-year lists from the likes of Rolling Stone and the New York Times— The Moon and Stars: Prescriptions for Dreamers is a potent catalyst for that kind of magic. With her spellbinding vocals and infectious sense of wonder, Valerie June gently eases the listener into a far more charmed state of mind, one that quickly restores a powerful feeling of joyful possibility.

Metamodern Sounds in Country Music is the follow-up to Sturgill Simpson's critically acclaimed debut, High Top Mountain. The album title - an allusion to Ray Charles groundbreaking 1962 record, Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music - hints at the psychedelic sounds found within. Compared to Waylon Jennings and Merle Haggard, Simpson explores a more progressive side of outlaw country in his wholly unique and captivating second album.

Comfort To Me is the second album from Amyl and The Sniffers, somehow both heavier and more awesome than their debut. MOJO Magazine raved: "Skin-shedding, lethal, self-sufficient, cool: no wonder Amy Taylor digs snakes. With Comfort To Me, she proves she can be whoever she wants, while the Sniffers confound preconceptions of how great a rude and righteous rock’n’roll band can still be." This expanded edition features a bonus LP recorded live on a dock in Melbourne. Pressed on clear smoke vinyl.

"I've got plenty of energy, it's my currency" sings Amy Taylor on the opening track of Comfort To Me, the latest from Amyl and The Sniffers. After their self-titled 2019 debut, the band conquered the world one club and festival at a time. Comfort To Me fully captures the chaotic energy of their unrelenting, jaw-dropping live show which The Guardian declared the “most exhilarating rock n’ roll show I’ve seen in years.”
