Reviews:
From Manuel Gemperli (22 Sound):
The War On Drugs are absolute masters at creating seemingly simple motifs and then layer by layer expand on them, turning them into grandiose soundscapes - something they still do on “I Don’t Live Here Anymore”. It sounds and feels like a natural next step in their career, but this might be their most immediate work to date. They cite the 80’s in many ways which gives it a feeling of instant familiarity. And while Adam Granduciel often more whispered than sang in the past, he’s not shying away from big choruses this time around. He may have even written some bona fide pop hits (at least they should be) and he’s damn good at it.
